Tea break’s over | The Tea Party in Melbourne.

A reunited trio return to their fans in full form, writes Jo Roberts.

LONG before falling CD sales meant most international bands had to tour relentlessly to make a living, Canadian rock trio the Tea Party were a regular and willing staple of the Australian tour circuit. Fantastic to finally see The Tea Party at the Palais  in Melbourne .
The show opened with the support of a duo ” Justin Affair “  an odd pick considering what was to follow.
The duo played a sombre mix of same sounding songs which left the crowd sedate and underwhelmed.
During the break an odd mix of Aussie rock and pop , not really the kind of music to inspire the punters into the heightened state it requires to witness the power of a band such as The Tea Party.
The show explodes on stage and the vibe is electric, Jeff in fine form as the band takes us on a journey through all the classics. With a clever use of effective lighting and a great range of guitars and other instruments to behold, forgiving the odd buzz and feedback from the P.A. ,The tea Party are back with gusto and delivered a remarkable show .

Just because of the supporting music before the show and the few  sound issues,
I would rate the show 8 out of 10.
